OMRON Awarded the Silver Class Distinction in the S&P Global Sustainability Awards 2022
The S&P Global Sustainability Awards were announced in the Sustainability Yearbook 2022 showcasing the sustainability performance of the world’s largest companies. Based in the U.S., S&P Global is one of the world’s leading providers of research and ratings in the field of socially responsible investing (SRI).
S&P Global assesses roughly 7,500 globally prominent companies in the Environmental, Social, and Governance & Economic Dimensions. Companies within the top 15% of each of the 61 industries are listed in the Sustainability Yearbook 2022 for their outstanding initiatives for sustainability (eighty-three Japanese companies, including OMRON, made it into the yearbook this time). Companies achieving an S&P Global ESG Score within a range of 1% to 5% of the top-performing company’s score in their industry are awarded a Silver Class distinction (seven Japanese companies, including OMRON, are recognized as such this year).
This time, OMRON was rated highly across the board for environmental, economic and social criteria. In the environmental field, OMRON is advancing its efforts to analyze the risks and opportunities that climate change can have on its business and disclose relevant information in accordance with the TCFD* Guidance, which it has supported since February 2019, while at the same time having various sets of its environmental data assured by independent third parties. In the economic and social fields, OMRON is forging ahead with disclosure of its initiatives for supply chain management and diversity & inclusion, among others, to further enhance its transparency.
I am thrilled to know that OMRON was awarded the Silver Class distinction by one of the leading sustainability rating organizations of the world. We are particularly honored that they highly recognized progress in our efforts to realize a carbon-neutral society. While businesses are expected by their stakeholders to play a greater role in achieving the sustainable development of society and are subject to increasing scrutiny, OMRON will remain firm in our endeavors to realize a sustainable and better society as we join hands with our business partners to address social issues through the practice of the OMRON Principles.”
